Darrell’s creative side emerged early. His parents listened to the Grand Ole Opry on radio, and Darrell discovered folk music in the late 50’s and early 60’s. Then came the Beatles and he started writing his own songs and stories. Aside from his two children’s albums, Darrell has more than 80 songs for grown-ups, and they are frequently requested. The great thing about his kid’s songs is adults like them too. It has been said that Darrell doesn’t write “baby songs.” He writes good songs with clever lyrics and hummable melodies. His intended audience may be young, but the songs play well to any age group.
