Arrange an Author Visit

“The Best Author Visit We Ever Had.” That’s what schools, libraries, educational conferences and reading festivals, nationwide, call Darrell’s personal appearances.

If you would like to arrange a visit from Darrell, you will find him easy to work with and willing to do almost anything to help make it happen.

A typical school visit includes three 45 minute, age appropriate, programs of music, poetry and storytelling. If you have a community partner willing to cooperate, Darrell will be happy to host an Author Luncheon. These are often provided for a small group of students who earn their invitation by excelling at a reading or writing assignment. He will also happily participate in staff “Meet & Greet” or “Special Student” encounters. If you have something different in mind, your ideas are welcome and encouraged.

Fees: Darrell is located in SE Florida and treats Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade as if they were his back yard. A full day visit is $500. An evening family night program, complete with sound system, can be added for $250.00.

Witness Darrell’s love of libraries and librarians in the dedication to his first book, Miller the Green Caterpillar. Library performances are typically +/- 45 minutes of original music, poetry and storytelling. Library shows can be arranged for $225.00.

The same fee structure extends to out of area visits, however there may be additional travel and accommodation expenses. Multiple day visits enjoy additional discounts, and expenses for multiple days in multiple, same area schools may be shared.

To offset appearance fees, Darrell will rebate 20% of all book and CD sales to the sponsoring organization. Books and CD’s are also available at a discount with no rebate.

A full set of Darrell’s books and CD’s, including: Miller the Green Caterpillar, The King of Fish, Underneath the Cushions on the Couch, Makes Me Feel Like Singing, Speed-B-B-B-Bumps, and my newest book, Bennie & Bonnie, may be purchased in advance for $70, a 25% discount.
