During Author Visits, Darrell is often asked where does he get his ideas for stories. In response he typically tells the kids his brain is bombarded with ideas every time he turns around. Millet the Green Caterpillar, The King of Fish and The Shadow Who Stole the Whistle are just the tip of the iceberg. Wait till you discover the story of Bennie and Bonnie, the two baby beetles who get separated from their family. There’s The Man Who Could Fix Anything, and the pirate story, The Clione Curse. Then there’s A Dolphin’s Tale. Someone made a movie using that title before Darrell’s story was known, but that’s ok. Take a fertile imagination and turn it loose and you get Darrell House.
