When Colleen Hodge described Darrell’s performance saying “Using your whole body to tell a tale, you become the story itself. One cannot take their eyes off you.”, she made a believer out of him. Always ready to perform, her endorsement made him realize he really could put down the guitar and still command the attention of an audience. Katy Mullon, former Special Events Coordinator for the Broward County Libraries’ Youth Services gets credit for discovering Darrell, and her constant encouragement and direction have helped him garner respect in schools, libraries, reading festivals and similar events nationwide.
